Retired FIFA Assistant Referee and now Ghana Football Association (GFA) License D coaching graduate, Patrick Papala, has expressed optimism about the new broadcast partnership between the Ghana Premier League and Adesa Productions Limited.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Radio Univers’ Sports Express show on August 16, Papala highlighted how the deal could significantly improve match officiating through better match coverage.

Papala, who officiated in the Ghana Premier League and on the international stage before retiring two years ago, explained that previous broadcast partners such as StarTimes struggled to provide enough cameras to cover every critical moment adequately.

“With the Adesa Productions, I am only praying that they should get more cameras and make our game beautiful,” Papala said. “If we have quality cameras taking our games, we can match, if not even match the world standards, we can get a bit closer,” he explained.

He further praised Adesa Productions for their clear focus on the game, suggesting the new deal could raise the standard of football coverage in Ghana, making the game more enjoyable and fairer for players, officials, and fans alike.

The deal comes at a crucial time when the Ghana Football Association has been pushing for improvements in the domestic league’s infrastructure and officiating standards, including enhanced financial support and insurance cover for referees.

Papala, who is now a Physical Education teacher at Wenchi Methodist Senior High School, emphasised the importance of using modern technology to support referees, especially in critical situations that could affect game outcomes.

“The introduction of more cameras by Adesa Productions Limited could be a game changer,” he concluded.

As the 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League season nears kick-off, many stakeholders will be watching closely to see how this partnership will influence the quality and fairness of football in the country.
