Public Relations Officer for Kotoku Royals, Okatakyie Afrifa has reacted to critics on the departure of the club’s head coach Seth Ablade.

The Akim Oda based club announced a departure of Ablade via a statement ahead of the restart of the Betpawa premier league, earlier in September 2022.

According to Afrifa, the decision was reached following an emergency meeting with Former Coach Seth Ablade.

Kotoku Royals have played eight matches in the Betpawa premier league, and we have won one, drew one and lost six. Ideally, that is not how Kotoku Royals is! Management met the coach for about two- and half-hour meeting and the final decision was that the coach should step aside for the club to move on, Okatakyie told Univers Sports.

He also affirmed that a new head coach will soon be appointed, however, the interim assistant coach Akapo Patron will take charge of the team.

Kotoku Royals have ideas and plans to appoint a new head coach as soon as possible so it’s not a matter of Akapo, he added.

The team places bottom of the 18 team Betpawa premier league standings with just four points and is set to play Legon Cities on Wednesday, December 21 when league returns from the 2022 FIFA World Cup break.
