Ghana’s men’s 4×100 metres relay team has etched their names into the history books, qualifying for the World Championships final with a sensational national record of 37.79 seconds.

The quartet of Ibrahim Fuseini, Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu ran a near-flawless race in Heat 2, finishing ahead of the Netherlands, Japan, Australia, China and Italy to claim top spot.

Their blistering time not only secured qualification but also elevated Ghana to the position of second-fastest relay nation in African history, overtaking Nigeria.

On the continental charts, only South Africa’s 37.57 seconds remains ahead of Ghana as Africa’s best-ever mark.

This achievement marks Ghana’s first appearance in a World Championships 4×100m final in three years and highlights the nation’s rising sprint pedigree.

With their time standing as the fastest in the heats, the team will now turn their attention to the grand finale on Sunday, 21 September 2025, at the Japan National Stadium.

Awaiting them will be sprint giants including the United States and Canada, in what promises to be a showdown of global sprinting power.

Back home, the record-breaking run has sparked celebrations, with fans hopeful that Ghana can crown this achievement with a place on the podium.
