Radio Univers recently hosted a two-day vetting process for over 70 individuals who applied to become volunteers at the station.
The event, which took place at the station’s premises at the University of Ghana from Thursday, November 14 to Friday, November 15, was designed to assess the skills, qualifications, and enthusiasm of applicants interested in contributing to the station’s dynamic operations.
The applicants, who represented a broad spectrum of academic disciplines, were primarily from the University of Ghana, with a notable number from other prestigious institutions, including the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).
Among the applicants, there was a rich diversity of programs, ranging from journalism, communications, business, political science, and law, among others. Many of the applicants were undergraduate students, with others pursuing master’s and Ph.D. degrees, demonstrating the wide range of academic interests eager to contribute to the station.
The vetting process, which included interviews and practical assessments, sought to identify individuals with a passion for media work and a strong commitment to community outreach. It provided an opportunity for the station to select volunteers who are not only enthusiastic about radio broadcasting but also bring diverse perspectives and skills to the table, which are essential for producing engaging and high-quality content.
Radio Univers, as a key media outlet for the University of Ghana and the broader academic community, has long been committed to providing students with practical opportunities in media production, broadcasting, and communication.
The volunteers selected through this vetting process will play an integral role in the station’s operations, assisting with on-air programming, production, and reporting, while gaining invaluable experience in the media industry.
