As part of ongoing efforts to deepen institutional collaboration and enhance student engagement, the management of Radio Univers has paid a courtesy call on the Director of the Academic Affairs Directorate at the University of Ghana.
The visit took place on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the Directorate’s office, with the Radio Univers delegation led by General Manager, Dr. Kwaku Botwe, and Station Officer, Albert Benefo Buabeng.
The meeting focused on strengthening relations between the Directorate and the university’s official campus-based radio station. Discussions explored strategic ways the two entities could collaborate more effectively to improve communication, student participation, and overall campus experience.
A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of insights from a recent research study conducted by Radio Univers, aimed at assessing student awareness and engagement with the station. The findings, drawn from interactions with students across various levels, suggested the need for a more structured introduction of campus-based platforms like Radio Univers to new students.
To that end, the station proposed the inclusion of a brief introductory note in students’ admission letters—highlighting Radio Univers as an extracurricular opportunity, particularly for students with interests in media, communication, and journalism. The management noted that such an initiative would not only increase awareness but also encourage early involvement and talent development.
In response, the Director of Academic Affairs, Mrs. Lydia Anowa Nyako-Danquah, commended the initiative and acknowledged the importance of the concerns raised. She assured the team that the proposal would be given thoughtful consideration and discussed with the appropriate stakeholders.
Mrs. Nyako-Danquah also recognised the critical role of Radio Univers in bridging communication between the Directorate and the student body. She encouraged the station to continue offering airtime and engagement platforms for the dissemination of academic policies, announcements, and other relevant updates, delivered in a language and tone accessible to students.
The meeting also offered Radio Univers the opportunity to share some of the operational challenges it faces and to seek the Directorate’s support in addressing them.
Both parties expressed optimism about the prospects of deeper collaboration, grounded in their shared commitment to improving the academic and extracurricular experience of students.
