The University of Ghana Health Services Directorate has issued a public notice announcing a resurgence of COVID-19 cases on campus and in surrounding areas.
The directive, dated June 23, 2025, urges students, staff, and visitors to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to preventive measures to curb further spread.
According to the Directorate, both suspected and confirmed cases have been reported in the university’s immediate vicinity, prompting the reactivation of COVID-19 response protocols, including screening and triage at health facilities.
To protect the university community, the following safety guidelines have been reinforced:
1. Proper wearing of face masks, particularly in enclosed or crowded spaces
2. Frequent handwashing with soap or use of alcohol-based sanitizers
3. Maintaining physical distance of at least one metre
4. Avoiding large gatherings unless necessary
5. Ensuring proper ventilation in offices, lecture halls, and meeting rooms
6. Staying home and seeking medical attention if flu-like symptoms appear
The notice stresses that these precautions are essential to preventing infection and ensuring the safety of the university community.
It also reassures the public that the situation is being closely monitored and that updates will be provided regularly.
Anyone experiencing symptoms or needing assistance is encouraged to contact the University Hospital.
