The latest data from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) shows that the Producer Price Inflation (PPI) rate for July 2024 rose to 29.1 percent, marking a 3.5 percentage point increase from June 2024.
The month-on-month change in PPI between June and July 2024 was 3.7 percent.
The Producer Price Index tracks the average change over time in the prices domestic producers receive for their goods and services.
According to the data, producer price inflation in the industry sector, excluding construction, climbed from 32.3 percent in June 2024 to 37.9 percent in July 2024.
The services sector saw an increase from 12.1 percent in June 2024 to 12.6 percent in July 2024, while mining and quarrying (48.8%) and construction (30.5%) had higher inflation rates than the national average (29.1%), while water supply, sewerage, and waste management activity had the lowest rate of 2.6% in July 2024.
