Eric Eli Adzie, Communications Director of Kpando Heart of Lions, has expressed dissatisfaction with the late venue change for the upcoming GHALCA Top Four tournament.

The competition was originally scheduled to take place at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi but had to be relocated due to the poor state of the pitch.

The Accra Sports Stadium was considered as an alternative; however, it was ruled out because of Ghana’s upcoming World Cup qualifier against Mali.

As a result, organizers settled on the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Speaking on Sports Night on Radio Univers, Mr. Adzie acknowledged the challenge but described it as an “organisational hitch,” adding that while the club is unhappy with the development, they hold no grudges against the organizers.

“It’s not welcoming news to us because, you know, we really prepared. But the good aspect is that we are in Accra and the venue is still in Accra.

“Even though we would have wished to play at the Accra Sports Stadium as planned, because we are a bit acclimatised to it, we also know that the playing turf is a bit different from what happens at Legon.

“It is an organisational hitch and we cannot actually begrudge the organisers for it. But the venue change to the University of Ghana Sports Stadium is one that we think should have come a little bit earlier.

“I am very sure that some patrons who would love to watch the GHALCA Top Four might not possibly be aware that the venue has been changed. They might actually wait until the last minute and rush to the Accra Sports Stadium, only to be told that the game is at a different venue.

“But for us as a club, we are prepared to take the game to wherever it is being played. The moment it is in Accra and we are not committing extra expenses outside the capital, I think we take it in good faith,” he said.
