The chairman of the local organizing committee of the Ghana Universities Sports Association, Prof. Ellis Owusu Dabo has lamented over the lack of sponsorship for this year’s GUSA games.

Prof Ellis Owusu revealed this at the opening ceremony of the 27th edition of the GUSA games at the Kwame Nkrumah University Of Science and Technology yesterday.

According to him, although they engaged some companies for sponsorship deals in the planning of the games, most of them proved futile. He is however calling for more sponsorship as the game progresses.

Our biggest challenge however has been sponsorship. Current economic environment has made it very very difficult and challenging for cooperate societies even for those who believe in cooperate social responsibility to offer a lending hand and support to these games and hopefully we will be able to meet the bearer’s minimum. Nevertheless, some sponsors have started to trickle in and we believe by the end of the games we will see more” Prof. Ellis Owusu Dabo said.

Further speaking Prof Owusu said KNUST has put measures in place to host the GUSA games successfully

All the sub-committees have adequately mapped out various strategies and tasks and therefore we believe that KNUST is ready to host you for the next two weeks” He said.
