Richmond Larbi and Gyampo Ayeh Ebenezer Derrick, have officially joined forces to contest the 2024/2025 SRC elections. Larbi will be running for SRC President, with Gyampo as his vice.
The announcement quickly stirred excitement across campus, especially on social media and WhatsApp platforms, where students referred to the pair as a “perfect match” for student leadership.
Their combined leadership experience spanning academic boards, hall governance, and student advocacy has positioned them as early frontrunners in the race.
Who is Richmond Ofori Larbi?
Larbi is a Banking and Finance student from the University of Ghana Business School and a non-resident. A proud old boy of Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (Presec–Legon), he has served in a range of leadership roles, including:
- Deputy Electoral Commissioner, UGBS
- President, PREGISS-UG Chapter (Presec & Aburi Girls alumni network
- Deputy Head, Sponsorship Committee – Jean Nelson Aka Hall (2023–2024)
- Founder, The Larbi Ofori Consults
Larbi is widely regarded as a strategic thinker with a knack for institutional development and resource mobilization. His leadership is often described as calculated, grounded, and approachable.
Who is Ebenezer Derrick Gyampo Ayeh?
Gyampo is a Pharmacy student and a resident of Jean Nelson Aka Hall, where he currently serves as JCR President. Before that, he held two key roles:
- JCR Organizing Secretary (2023–2024)
- Central Planning Committee Head (2022–2023)
A former student of Mfantsipim School, Gyampo is also the former Team Lead for Echo Campus, where he helped drive outreach programs and student engagement initiatives. He’s earned a reputation as a people-first leader with a strong presence on the ground.
What Students Are Saying?
Reactions on campus suggest that students see their partnership as complementary—balancing Larbi’s systems-focused approach with Gyampo’s grassroots energy.
“Gyampo knows the base. Larbi knows the structure. That’s a strong combo,” said a third-year Political Science student.
As campaign season draws closer, the Larbi–Gyampo ticket appears to be gaining early traction, with visible support from students across various halls, faculties, and interest groups.
