Korle-Bu appoints interim CEO as Dr. Ampomah completes tenure

The Board of Directors of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has announced that the four-year term of CEO Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah will end on Saturday, October 5, 2024.

The Board has appointed Dr. Frank Owusu-Sekyere, Director of Medical Affairs, as Interim CEO starting Sunday, October 6, while awaiting further instructions from the appointing authorities.

Board Chair Dr. David Nkansah Dwamena commended Dr. Ampomah, the outgoing CEO, for his commitment and contributions, which have led to the hospital’s growth during his tenure.

“On behalf of the Board, I extend our sincerest congratulations to you for your dedication and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the hospital.”

In a statement, the Board emphasized the importance of ensuring smooth operations and patient care during this transition and called for the cooperation of all stakeholders.

Dr. Owusu-Sekyere’s interim leadership will help maintain continuity as the hospital awaits further communication on the next steps from the appointing authorities.

“As we await communication from the appointing authorities regarding the next steps, the Board has resolved to appoint Dr. Frank Owusu-Sekyere, Director of Medical Affairs, to act as Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective October 6, 2024. We solicit the cooperation and support of all stakeholders during this transition period.”
