Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Eric Nyarko has expressed frustration over the club’s continued exclusion of ex-players from technical roles.

Nyarko, who played a pivotal role in Hearts’ historic 8-7 penalty shootout victory over Asante Kotoko to win the maiden CAF Confederation Cup in 2004, believes former players deserve a place within the club’s setup.

Speaking in an interview with Andy Asante Okyere on Univers Sports, Nyarko expressed disappointment in the board for sidelining individuals who once gave their all for the team.

“I’m disappointed that former players have been left out of Hearts of Oak’s technical team in recent times. Experienced players like Adja Tetteh and Sani Mohammed have the right qualifications and documents to take up important roles, yet the board continues to sideline them,” he said.

He stressed that the foundations of the club’s current success were laid by former players, and as such, they should not be ignored in shaping the club’s future.

“During our playing days, we gave everything for the team, even though we didn’t have the kind of facilities the club has now. That’s why we believe former players who are qualified for roles at the club should be given a fair chance and treated with respect. We worked hard for Hearts, so we deserve to be considered when opportunities come up,” he added.

Nyarko concluded by expressing optimism that he will one day return to the club in a technical capacity.
