The President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama has appointed seasoned journalist and banker, Matilda Asante-Asiedu as the 2nd Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
The appointment comes on the back of the erstwhile occupant of that office, Elsie Addo Awadzie who resigned some months ago and left the post vacant.
Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu comes to the job with over fifteen years of experience straddling the corporate world in the field of banking and finance and additional experience as a seasoned journalist who has worked with top brands in the course of her working life.
A press release dated April 28, from the Office of the President and signed by the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Ofosu Kwakye indicates that Mrs Asante-Asiedu’s rich expertise in both the fields of banking and journalism was a key factor in her appointment by the President to the high office as 2nd Deputy Governor to assist the economic transformation and development agenda of the John Mahama administration.
The release further touts her seamless transition from an accomplished media professional to a consummate banking professional over the years which has seen her take up leadership roles in some leading banks in the country as well as gathering significant academic qualifications and corporate acumen in her professional life.
The Presidency further conveys its well wishes to her on the appointment and the expectations set for her and the management of the Central Bank.
Matilda Asante- Asiedu is a topnotch journalist with over a decade of experience in that field spanning top media houses like Joy FM, TV3 amongst a host of others with an award winning resume.
Prior to her new appointment, Matilda Asante- Asiedu was the Head of Retail Banking at Access Bank Ghana Headquarters.
