Adamu Alhassan has signed for Hohoe United

Newly promoted Ghana Premier League side Hohoe United FC has made a bold statement of intent by signing one of Division One’s standout forwards, Adamu Alhassan, popularly known as “Conso.”

The 25-year-old striker, a native of Elmina in the Central Region, joins the Volta-based club on a lucrative two-year contract for an undisclosed fee—signalling the club’s serious ambitions ahead of their maiden top-flight campaign.

From Humble Beginnings to the Premier League

Alhassan’s rise to professional football is marked by determination and raw talent. Growing up in a small village near Elmina, his skills on the pitch earned him a sports scholarship through the KEEA Constituency, which enabled him to attend the renowned Aggrey Memorial High School.

There, he captained the Central Regional high school team to victory at the 2018 Inter-Regional Championship in Cape Coast, also emerging as the tournament’s top scorer. His consistent performances earned him the nickname “Conso” from local fans, celebrating his reliability and flair on the pitch.

Division One Dominance

Alhassan made his national breakthrough in 2023 while playing for Elmina Sharks in the Access Bank Division One League, where he emerged as the top scorer in Zone 2 with 13 goals.

His standout performances earned him a transfer to Karela United, where he continued to shine—netting 5 goals in 11 matches and winning two Man of the Match awards. Despite being used sparingly, his impact was crucial in helping Karela United avoid relegation in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season. In just 370 minutes of playtime, he showcased both his effectiveness and tactical value.

He made an unforgettable Premier League debut by scoring twice against Aduana Stars, firmly establishing himself as a promising top-flight talent.

Experience Abroad

Alhassan has also ventured beyond Ghana to test his skills internationally. He has had trials with Austria Vienna and several clubs in the Netherlands, and spent time in the UAE under football development programs, where he enhanced his technical skills and physical conditioning.

What Hohoe United Gains

Hohoe United’s acquisition of Alhassan is more than just a signing; it’s a statement of the club’s ambition. The club, fresh off promotion, is building a squad capable of competing, not just surviving.

With Alhassan’s proven goal-scoring record, international exposure, and leadership pedigree, HUFC adds firepower and experience to its attacking line.

Club insiders describe the deal as “strategic and forward-looking,” with Alhassan expected to be a cornerstone of their offensive setup.

Player Reaction

While official comments from Alhassan remain reserved, sources close to the player suggest he’s “excited by the challenge” and “ready to lead from the front.”

His arrival has already sparked buzz among Hohoe fans, eager to see their new talisman in action.

As the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season approaches, all eyes will be on Hohoe United and on Adamu Alhassan Conso; the village boy and a viable goal machine, now poised to write a new chapter in Ghanaian football.
