Futsal, introduced in 1930, is a football-derived sport played on a hardcourt similar to a basketball court, albeit smaller than a standard football field and predominantly indoors. The Futsal African Cup of Nations debuted in 1996 and recurs every four years, provides teams with an opportunity to qualify for the FIFA Futsal World Cup.

In 2024, the Ghana National Futsal Team is poised to make their mark in the sport once again, marking their second appearance in a Futsal tournament since their impressive runners-up finish in 1996. Their journey to this year’s tournament was solidified with a commanding 6-2 victory over Ivory Coast in their final qualifying match.

Ghana is set to compete alongside nations like Egypt, Morocco, Angola, Zambia, Namibia, Libya and Mauritania, vying for both the prestigious trophy and a place in the upcoming FIFA FUTSAL World Cup in Uzbekistan.

In the opening matches, Ghana will confront Zambia, followed by a match against host and defending champions Morocco, and finally, they will play against Angola in Group A. Group B will witness three-time Futsal Afcon champions Egypt competing against 2008 winners Libya, as well as Namibia and Mauritania.

The Ghana National Futsal team embarked on their journey from Accra to Rabat on April 3, 2024, in preparation for the upcoming tournament scheduled to be held in Rabat, Morocco, from April 8th to 17th, 2024.
