The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has entered into a landmark partnership with Adesa Production Limited (APL) to produce, manage, market, and broadcast the Ghana Premier League in a deal described as a turning point for domestic football.
The agreement, unveiled on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, marks the beginning of a new era for the nation’s topflight.
The launch attracted several high-profile dignitaries, including GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon‑Okraku, Vice President Mark Addo, Sports Minister Kofi Iddie Adams, Chief of Staff Hon. Julius Debrah, and Majority Leader of Parliament Hon. Mahama Ayariga.
Under the terms of the partnership, each Premier League club will receive GH₵1 million before the start of the 2025/26 season to boost their operations, support player welfare, upgrade infrastructure, and prepare for the campaign.
For the first time in the league’s history, prize money will also be distributed on a merit-based system, rewarding clubs according to their final position on the league table.
GFA President Kurt Okraku described the deal as a bold step toward repositioning the Ghana Premier League as a viable economic enterprise. He emphasised that clubs will, for the first time, begin the season with substantial financial backing while being motivated by performance-related incentives throughout the campaign.
Adesa Productions will oversee branding, marketing, broadcast production, and digital content delivery, ensuring that the Ghana Premier League is presented to audiences with a more modern, professional, and competitive outlook. The company is expected to drive fan engagement both locally and internationally while boosting the league’s commercial value.
Speaking on behalf of President John Mahama, Chief of Staff Hon. Julius Debrah endorsed the partnership, noting that it aligns with the government’s broader vision of repositioning sports as a growth sector and an economic asset.
He praised the GFA, Adesa Productions, and participating clubs for their boldness in pursuing a project that promises to transform the football industry.
The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season is scheduled to kick off in mid-September, with clubs expected to receive their financial packages before the end of the month.
With the historic deal now in place, Ghanaian football looks set to usher in a new dawn built on professionalism, competitiveness, and sustainability.
