The Ghana National Futsal team exited the ongoing Futsal Africa Cup of Nations after suffering an 11-3 loss to Angola in their 3rd and final group game at the Salle Ibn Yassine Hall yesterday, leaving the team with no victory in the competition.

The team’s previous defeats against Zambia and Morocco all but confirmed the elimination of Ghana from the 7th edition of the Futsal AFCON.

However, the nail in the coffin was laid when 2020 Futsal bronze medalists, Angola, dispatched Ghana comfortably to secure a place in the last four.

Ghana’s 11 goals conceded against Angola took the team’s goals conceded tally to 24.

The win means Ghana, who are participating in their first Futsal AFCON tournament since 1996, will play no part in the Futsal World Championship, which is to be held in September, due to the inability of the team to finish in a guaranteed podium spot.

On the other hand, Angola secured qualification to the next stage of the competition alongside host and defending champions Morocco, who annihilated Zambia 13-0 to earn a place in the semi-final.

The victory for Morocco and Angola propelled both teams to lead the way in group A, with the host nation maintaining a perfect record through the group phase, while Angola’s only defeat came against Morocco.

Morocco finished at the summit of group A with the most points (9)  and goals scored (26), while Angola had to settle for second spot in both regard.

The fate of the teams from group A will be determined after the round of fixtures in group B takes place on April 16, 2024, with team Ghana’s imminent arrival at the Kotoka International airport expected in the next 24-48hours
