Frank Fosu, the assistant coach of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), is confident that the recent appointment of Professor John K. M. Mawutor, as the Vice Chancellor will bring positive changes to the university’s sports programs.
He believes that the new leadership is committed to enhancing the overall sports culture at UPSA, helping to improve athlete performance and infrastructure for future competitions.
In an exclusive interview with Universports, Coach Fosu revealed that Professor John K. M. Mawutor has made the sports venue available, enabling the soccer team to form a competitive squad to represent UPSA in upcoming major tournaments.
“We didn’t get the opportunity to train on time for the last GUSA we went for, so our performance was not encouraging at all. So this time around that they’ve changed the VC, he is into sports so he has given us the opportunity to train ahead , for better preparation, better outcome in any major tournament and project the school and it’s sports team” he said.
The UPSA sports teams are making notable progress in their preparations for the upcoming GUSA tournament which will be held in Winneba. In an ambitious effort, the university has taken steps to improve player selection, aiming for stronger performances in future competitions.
The UPSA football team, which has experienced numerous setbacks and defeats in previous GUSA tournaments due to insufficient preparation, is now concentrating on enhancing its readiness for the challenges ahead.
