A former editor at Radio Univers, Jonas Nyabor, has been named as one of the nominees in the Professional Fact-Checker category of the 2022 Africa Fact-Checking Awards.

He is among the few selected from across the continent to be awarded for their outstanding fact-checking reports between 2021 and 2022.
Jonas Nyabor has investigated and debunked dozens of claims on important subjects such as the economy, politics, and health.
One of his recent works which focused on COVID-19 unmasked a coordinated Twitter network included fake accounts and bots that spread disinformation about Covid-19 vaccination in Ghana.
The network actively worked to whip up anti-vaccine sentiments leading to vaccine hesitancy.
The report was showcased at a capstone open-source investigation programme organized by the International Centre for Journalists ,(ICFJ) and Code4Africa in Dakar, Senegal in July this year.
Jonas Nyabor joined Radio Univers in 2012 after gaining admission to study Psychology and Geography at the University of Ghana that same year.
Aside from the editorial duties that he assumed whilst at Radio Univers, Jonas was part of the production team for various on-air shows and anchored the station’s major news bulletin.
Even after the end of his active service at the station in 2016, he continues to be instrumental in the career development of young volunteers at the station.
Currently, Jonas Nyabor is a fact-checking fellow with Dubawa, a West African independent verification and fact-checking project initiated by the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID).
In 2020, he came up as the 1st runner-up in the best fact-checker category in the Dubawa fellowship fact-checking awards.
The nominated fact-checking report and final decision on the entries will be unveiled at the Africa fact-checking summit scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya on 9th and 10th November 2022.
