Former Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi has revealed that the current actions by the NDC to remove the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson and the Special Prosecutor (OSP) appears to be the fulfilment of a campaign promise made while in opposition
This follows a recent petition submitted to the Chief Justice, seeking the removal of the mentioned officials. Dr. Kissi noted that not all petitions typically reach the Chief Justice, implying that the move may be influenced by political motives rather than merit.
Speaking on channel one TV earlier today, He questioned the sudden push for petitions targeting the removal of the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, her deputies, and the Special Prosecutor (OSP), describing it as politically motivated.
“They are playing by what they promised, and I must admit, truth be told, there may be petitions, but do they merit their removal? That’s a key question.” Dr Kissi argued
He added that the threshold for forwarding such petitions is high and requires executive discretion.
“And that threshold lies in the bosom of the cabinet… In this country, many petitions went and were not forwarded. Not all petitions will be forwarded to the CJ. If every petition that comes to the executive gets forwarded, he’ll be overburdened.”he stated.
