Former student of Keta Senior High School, contestant and finalist in the 2021 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), James Lutterodt has reportedly passed away on 3rd July, 2023.

The news of his demise has spread online, saddening everyone who was familiar with his remarkable journey alongside his fellow contestants in the prestigious quiz competition.

However, his family has not yet publicly confirmed the tragic news or provided details regarding the cause of his death. Reports suggesting that James was poisoned are yet to be verified by UniversNews.

James Lutterodt is best known for representing Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO) in the National Science and Maths Quiz together with Bright Senyo Gadzo and Francisca Lamini in 2021. Their outstanding performance had positioned KETASCO as a favorite for victory. Despite being considered underdogs, they fought their way through intense battles against PRESEC-Legon and Prempeh. The team embraced the mantra “God of ONE-ders” throughout their journey.

Sadly, KETASCO fell short of winning the competition, as Prempeh College emerged victorious with 53 points, surpassing both PRESEC Legon and KETASCO.

After the competition, the trio and the entire NSMQ team were warmly received by their classmates, teachers, and the public at Keta Business College (KETABUSCO) Junction. A procession was organized to celebrate their achievements, accompanied by the School’s cadet guard of honor, as they returned to the KETASCO campus.

James Lutterodt went on to gain admission to the University of Ghana in 2021, where he was reading Computer Science. He was also reported to have gained admission to a prestigious university abroad and was set to further his studies this year before his untimely death.

Meanwhile, former students of Keta Senior High School, who spoke to UniversNews, expressed their sadness and shared their shock upon hearing the news of James’ passing.

“I am still in disbelief about his death. I want to scream, but I can’t find the words. Only God knows the reasons behind this,”a former colleague of Lutterodt said.

“I am struggling to process the entire news. It’s just doesn’t make sense,” another added.

Social media users have also expressed their shock and sorrow upon learning about James’ untimely death. They have been extending their condolences to the family as they only had words of praises on their memory of James’ achievements.
