The Headmaster of Ghana Senior High School Tamale, Douglas Haruna Yakubu has denied assertions made about the use of toilet facilities as dormitories.

This comes after a viral video purportedly showed the school’s restrooms being converted into dormitories.

According to the Headmaster, such claims are false and are to be disregarded.

“We all saw the reportage on social media about Ghana Senior High school turning toilet facilities into dormitories and I want to reiterate this point that it is totally false, it has never happened and will never happen.”

He stated that the tracking system of students has made it possible for the school to have enough boarding facilities to accommodate more students, hence the rumours were untrue.

“We are running the transitional track system where when some students are home, others are in school, and the purpose of this is to make sure there is accommodation in both boarding house and classroom, so we have enough and as it now, we can admit more day students into boarding house. What came on social media is absolutely false.”

However, he expressed his disappointment in the reporter who ignorantly failed to inquire from the school’s authorities about allegations made.

“But I thought that ordinarily as a good journalist when you go inside an institution to take pictures, you come to the authorities to find out whether we have converted toilet facilities into dormitories, I think there’s no fairness here.”

He concluded by explaining that the toilet facilities were constructed by the former president Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in the 1960’s but has never been used as toilets.

“Those buildings were constructed by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in the 1960’s but I tell you, right from the late 1970’s these toilet facilities have not been used as toilets.”
