Election’24: Shop owners protest EC takeover at Okponglo polling station 2

Shop attendants at Okponglo Polling Station 2 have expressed frustration over the Electoral Commission’s decision to use their premises without prior notice.

Their shops, which usually hum with commercial activity, has been taken over by Electoral Commission (EC) officials without prior notice, turning their business premises into part of the polling station. Unable to open their shops for business, the attendants feel their livelihoods have been disrupted.

One shop owner, speaking off the record, said, “Ayawaso matters escalate,” reflecting fears of political tensions.

As the day unfolds, the voters at Okponglo Polling Station 2 may cast their ballots, but the shop attendants will be unable to go their business
