In a major post-election development, Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has admitted defeat and congratulated John Dramani Mahama on his victory in the 2024 general elections.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate acknowledged the emerging election results and reaffirmed his commitment to a smooth and peaceful transfer of power.

Speaking to the nation on Sunday, December 8, Bawumia revealed that he had personally called the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer and former President, John Dramani Mahama, to offer his congratulations.

He pledged his unwavering support to the incoming President, emphasizing the need for unity and the continuous progress of the nation.

This concession draws the curtain on an intense electoral contest and sets the stage for Mahama’s administration to take charge.
