The Ministry of Education has announced the rollout of a new Subject-Specific Artificial Intelligence (AI) app for Senior High Schools across the country.
In a statement released by the ministry, the initiative is aimed at enhancing the delivery of the new SHS curriculum while safeguarding Ghana’s ethical and cultural values.
The app, which was co-created by the Ghana Education Service (GES), the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), the National Teaching Council (NTC), the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA), and the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), was developed with support from Transforming Teaching, Education & Learning (T-TEL) and the Mastercard Foundation.
The design of the subject-specific apps is expected to support more than 68,000 teachers in delivering the new SHS curriculum to over 1.4 million learners nationwide.
The applications will be introduced through weekly Professional Learning Community sessions in all 712 Senior High Schools, following a four-phase testing process to be undertaken by NaCCA.
The ministry further disclosed that the initiative will be rolled out in October 2025, with training sessions arranged for over 7,800 school-based facilitators across the country.
