The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, has announced during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting at the Alisa Hotel on Tuesday, October 1, that the commission has largely addressed errors in the voter register.
In response to concerns regarding the register, Mensa acknowledged that while it is not final and contains some imperfections, such errors are typical in any registration process.
“These errors are not unusual. All it takes are conscientious efforts to get them resolved”
She reassured representatives from political parties that the EC has already taken measures to correct the discrepancies identified since the initial release of the voter register.
“You will realize that the voter register for today is different from what was provided to the parties in August”
Mensa emphasized that the discrepancies detected thus far have been largely rectified.
“The register that we have today is different from what was given to the political parties in August”
She reiterated, urging all stakeholders to have confidence in the commission’s efforts.
“We have a track record of delivering free and fair elections. Our staff are well trained, and we have what it takes to produce a credible register”
Mensa added, calling on all political parties to trust the commission ahead of the December elections.
