The face behind the mask, leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, has unveiled an ambitious plan to create 8 million jobs over the next decade.
During the launch of the New Force Movement’s 12 pillars for economic revolution in Accra on Sunday, September 1, 2024, Cheddar emphasized this bold initiative aimed at tackling unemployment and stimulating economic growth across the nation.
“Our research on attribution reserve shows that gold, iron ore, gas, bauxite, lithium, and diamond, and the potential of agro-processing and all the arable lands in the country amount to $2.5 trillion. We are determined to bring out every region’s wealth. Ghana will have an economic output of $4.7 trillion and we will also create 8 million jobs in a decade.”
In light of this proposal, UniversNews engaged some students from the University of Ghana to gauge their thoughts on the feasibility of this ambitious goal.
Most of them conceded to the plausibility of Cheddar’s strategic plans and expressed satisfaction towards it.
“One part that really stood up for me was the point of industrialization. It is exactly what the Ghanaian youth needs right now because this will serve as a great avenue of employment and generate revenue for developmental projects.”
“I think he has a good vision. He has good plans and thinks about the country and the youth. He is one of the few I have seen express such prescient ideas, and I believe he’s the man for the job. Besides, the youth is in dire need of practicality and employment, so if we have discovered a man with such foresight, why not rally behind him?”
Others shared similar views, commending the laudability of the outlined projects but expressing their concerns about whether they would be embraced by Ghanaians, given that such calls have historically come from either the New Patriotic Party (NPP) or the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“Concerning the manifesto of Cheddar, to me, the vision is very clear and his 12 pillars for economic freedom sound laudable to me. But the question is, having such a man of great vision and foresight, are we as the youth and a country ready to support him?”
As Ghana stands at this pivotal moment, the nation watches closely to see if Cheddar’s ambitious vision can spark a transformative movement that resonates with its people.
