The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has selected Ghana to host the next edition of the African Schools Football Championship from April 21 – April 26, 2025.
This year’s competition which marks the third edition, will be held at the 10,000-seater University of Ghana Stadium, which was completed for the African Games.
The zonal qualifiers, which took place between October 2024 and January 2025, featured national school teams from 46 countries that registered to play in the 2024-2025 season. The champions of the 2023-2024 finals boys’ and girls’ teams, as well as the winners of the CAF six zones, will travel to join the host, Ghana, for the continental finals.
“We are excited for the upcoming CAF African schools football championship in Ghana, a landmark event that continues to inspire young talent across Africa. We look forward to an unforgettable tournament filled with passion, talent, and growth” said CAF director of member associations, Sarah Mukuna.
The winning school is set to receive $300,000, while the runner-up and the second runner-up will receive $200,000 and $150,000 respectively.
The tournament which was launched in April 2022 has seen countries like South Africa hosting the first edition in 2023 and Tanzania hosting the second edition in 2024. This makes Ghana the first west African nation to host it.
