Born to Ghanaian parents in Norway, Britz, known offstage as Britwum, is a rising musical force whose sound is as unique as his story. Starting his music journey at the age of 21 in the cool corners of Norway, Britz is now planting his feet firmly in the Ghanaian music industry—and he’s doing it with purpose, passion, and powerful collaborations.

In an exclusive interview with Kvng Kelly on At The DJ’s Mercy aired on Radio Univers on April 11, 2025, Britz opened up about his journey, artistry, and how relocating to Ghana has become a pivotal move for his music career.

“To me, music is about expressing myself, having an outlet,” he shared. “There are some things that you cannot say in every room but when I’m in the studio, I’m free—I can say whatever I wanna say. It’s like an outlet for me to be able to express myself.”

His music style is a compelling blend of rap and hip hop, often fused with R&B and even Gospel, depending on the mood or message. This genre-fluid approach gives Britz a versatility that reflects both his multicultural roots and evolving artistic identity.

Ghana vs. Norway: A Tale of Two Industries

On the difference between the Norwegian and Ghanaian music industries, Britz noted a stark contrast:

“I think here in Ghana you have artistes that have built something for themselves—like Stonebwoy. You remember his first track and how he built a solid fanbase. So, when he’s being booked for an event, it’s off the work he’s put into shaping that fanbase. But in Norway, it’s more digitalized… There aren’t as many festivals. Over there, they focus more on streaming numbers.”

While Norway prioritizes digital metrics, Britz appreciates Ghana’s more emotionally connected fan culture, where artist development is deeply rooted in community and presence.

Big Collaborations Loading

Britz is wasting no time linking up with some of Ghana’s biggest musical names. He recently recorded a new single with Stonebwoy titled “Me be chase”, which he confidently says is “going to make waves.” But the surprises don’t end there.

He also hinted at an exciting feature with Beeztrap KOTM, the “Fly Girl” hitmaker. Recalling the studio session, Britz couldn’t help but praise Beeztrap’s infectious energy:

“Beeztrap was hard! He just came to the studio, cool, chilled, listened to the beat, and as soon as he got up—it was like, Energy!

And if you thought that was all, Britz also revealed he has a track with J. Derobie that’s been in the vault for the past three years. With the momentum he’s building, fans can likely expect that unreleased gem to drop sooner rather than later.

Adding to his growing catalog, Britz recently dropped a brand-new single titled “Ghanaman” featuring UK-based Afro-swing collective NSG. The track rides on a bouncy drill beat, blending hard-hitting flows with catchy hooks that perfectly capture the vibrant energy of both Ghanaian and UK street culture. “Ghanaman” is already turning heads with its infectious rhythm and bold sound—an anthem that proudly reps his Ghanaian identity while showcasing his international appeal. It’s bold, it’s dope, and it’s a definite must-listen.

As Britz settles into the Ghanaian music landscape, it’s clear he’s not here to blend in—he’s here to stand out. With raw talent, intentional collaborations, and a deep-rooted passion for self-expression, Britz is one artist to keep your ears on.

Follow his journey—because this is just the beginning.
