The Black Queens of Ghana have been drawn in Group D of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations alongside Cameroon, Mali and Cape Verde following the final draw held in Rabat, Morocco, on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

The draw marked an important moment for the tournament, as the 16 qualified teams were placed into groups using four pots based on the latest FIFA rankings.

This edition will be the first in the history of WAFCON to feature 16 nations.

The Black Queens were seeded in Pot 1 together with Nigeria, South Africa and host nation Morocco, a reflection of Ghana’s status among Africa’s elite women’s teams.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from March 17, to April 3, 2026, in Morocco and will not only crown Africa’s champions but also serve as a qualification route to the next FIFA Women’s World Cup.

With Cameroon’s physical strength, Mali’s technical approach and Cape Verde’s rising profile, Group D is set to deliver intense competition as Ghana targets a strong start and a deep run in the championship.
