The Ghana Premier League matchday 11 regional derby game between Bofoakwa Tano and Nsoatreman Football Club, which ended in a 0-0 stalemate was climaxed with hooliganism at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

The disruptions was characterised by violence and bullying of the visiting team, Nsoatreman FC, which led to assaults on the club’s players and their head coach, Maxwell Konadu, who has since been hospitalized.

This has in turn led to the temporal ban of the home venue of the newly promoted Betpawa Premier League side Bofoakwa Tano, by the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association in accordance with GFA Premier League Regulations Article 14(2).

“The GFA may order the closure of any league centre where the safety of clubs, Match Officials or Spectators cannot be guaranteed,” the council quoted in a statement.

This temporal ban of the Sunyani Coronation Park means Bofoakwa Tano will adapt to alternative venues for their upcoming GPL matches as determined by the Competitions Department of the GPL.

The Disciplinary committee of the FA has been assigned to sit on the matter in the coming days and carry out appropriate punishment to victims involved in such menace.

Until then, officials of Bofoakwa Tano FC will work hand in hand with the Regional Police to arrest the culprit involved in the attack of Nsoatreman FC at the Coronation Park in Bofo.

Nsoatreman FC express displeasure over assaults

In light of the mayhem caused at the grounds, Nsoatreman FC have released a club statement stating their displeasure on the incident.

Meanwhile, Boafoakwa Tano have also condemned the acts of violence at the coronation park and have assured officials their full cooperation to bring to book the perpetrators involved.
