“Beating Hearts of Oak back-to-back is not an easy job” – Kotoko coach reveals

Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Dr.Prosper Narteh Ogum, has shared his excitement after achieving the double over arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in matchday 31 of the Ghana Premier League, admitting the difficulty that comes with attaining such a significant result.

The 2-0 victory completes the double for Kotoko over their arch-rivals, following a thrilling 3-2 win in the first leg, with Ugandan striker Steve Dese Mukwala scoring four goals across both matches at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Speaking after the game, Prosper Narteh Ogum revealed that defeating Hearts of Oak serves as a significant motivation to conclude the season on a good note, expressing his joy after completing the double against their fierce rivals.

I’m very happy, beating Hearts of Oak back-to-back is not an easy job. I think it’s an honour for this group of players because it’s been a while this thing happened. I’m not very sure of when this actually [happened ] but it been a while so we are all happy and you could see when the final result was blown.

I think Steve made it so beautiful. I engaged him before the game and I think he has lived up to the task. I’m even shot of words, he concluded

Asante Kotoko’s next game will be against Accra Great Olympics on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in match week 32.
