Fast-rising musician Koo Nimo Constantine, popularly known as Arathejay, has recently opened up about the inspiration behind his latest album, Finding Nimo, the Capsule.

In an engaging interview on Radio Univers’ At The DJ’s Mercy on August 30, 2024, Arathejay delved into the heartfelt meaning behind his album title. He explained that just as a capsule in the medical world is designed to provide relief, he hopes his music will bring healing to his listeners, capturing a range of emotions and experiences.

“I think it embodies a lot of things. Aside from the different genres, there are different themes in the songs. Basically, just how a capsule is an embodiment of something that gives you relief, this capsule was meant to give healing. Not so much on the medical side, but the literal meaning of a capsule and how it brings healing. This capsule was supposed to be like an insight into who finally Nimo is. After you take the capsule, your eyes will be opened to it.”

Arathejay expressed a deep connection with his favorite track on the album, Jesus Christ 2, a powerful collaboration with Black Sherif, the 2023 VGMA (now TGMA) Artiste of the Year.

He described the partnership as a stroke of divine fortune, revealing that Black Sherif was captivated by his song Jesus Christ, and the collaboration happened smoothly. This connection led to a creative synergy that birthed Jesus Christ 2, which rapidly climbed to number 2 on Apple Music’s Top 100 charts just 48 hours after its release.

“Honestly, I can’t fully explain it here… but, essentially, ‘3y3 Nyame Adom’ (It’s by God’s grace). I believe he heard Jesus Christ. When I released it, I was just trying to get people to listen to it. There was no plan, no calculation—everything happened by God’s grace, trust me. And much love to Blacko—big love!”

Reflecting on the creative process, Arathejay shared that he wrote Jesus Christ during a particularly overwhelming period in his life. He spoke candidly about feeling sad and stressed, emotions that poured into the song’s raw and honest lyrics.

Arathejay humbly acknowledged that, despite his recent success, he believes he has yet to reach his peak as an artist. Quoting Saint Augustine, he mused, “When you think you have gotten to your level of in-depth knowledge with God, you are actually dead,” emphasizing his ongoing journey to deliver his message through music.

During the interview, Arathejay also recounted a touching moment when his father proudly showed him a photo of himself on a billboard in the streets of Accra, a testament to his growing influence and success.

In wrapping up the interview, he underscored that Jesus Christ 2 is just the beginning of the deluxe edition of The Capsule. He called on fans to expect even more music in the coming months as he continues to explore new creative heights. He also expressed his admiration for Vybz Kartel, citing him as a major influence and inspiration in his music-making journey.

With his passion, authenticity, and dedication to his craft, Arathejay is undoubtedly an artist to watch. His unique blend of personal storytelling and musical talent promises a bright future ahead, filled with more hits and heartfelt tracks that resonate with fans worldwide.
