Transport fares to reduce by 10% effective May 17 – Public Transport Operators

Public Transport Operators have revealed that transport fares will be reduced by 10% starting from May 17th, 2023.

This follows the recent reduction in fuel prices across the country.

This development was revealed in a statement dated 15th May, 2023, released by the Road Transport Operators.

“In line with the administrative arrangement on public transport fares, the road transport operators have reduced public transport fares by 10 percent to accommodate for the reduction in the price of petroleum products observed over the period.”

In the statement, commercial transport operators and the general public were urged to comply with the new fare.

“We further request all operators, commuters and the general public to kindly cooperate for the successful implementation of the new fares.”

The new fares is slated to affect shared taxis, intra-city (trotro), intercity (long distance buses) and haulage vehicles.
