OSP revives six major corruption cases

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announced six major corruption cases scheduled for trial in 2025 that are scheduled to be resumed after their annual vacation.

In a social media post on X, the OSP said that their office was actively pursuing these cases, and more cases are expected to be filed in the last quarter of the year.

“With the courts resuming from vacation, these are the cases the OSP is actively prosecuting on your behalf, with more cases to be filed in the last quarter of the year.”

Among the high-profile cases is one involving the former Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, and nine others. They are facing charges of extortion and money laundering in connection with an alleged GH¢280 million scandal at the NPA.

Also facing trial is former Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Adjenim Boateng Adjei, who has been charged with corruption and abuse of public office for allegedly using his position for personal gain.

Former Chief Executive of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), Sumaila Abdul Rahman, and three others are being tried at the Tamale High Court over procurement breaches and financial irregularities in contracts awarded to A&QS Limited.

Charles Bissue, former Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, has also been charged with corruption-related offences following alleged misconduct during his tenure.

Another case involves Alexander Sarfo-Kantanka, former Municipal Chief Executive of Juaben in the Ashanti Region, who is accused of bribing assembly members during his confirmation process. His case is currently under appeal.

The final case involves Issah Seidu and three others, who have been charged with attempting to unlawfully purchase ten shipping containers, in breach of procurement and financial regulations.
