Matchday One of the second edition of the University of Ghana Corporate Football League delivered an exciting start as Group B fixtures unfolded at the University of Ghana Warm Up Pitch, producing dominant wins, narrow margins and early signals of title ambition.
Newcomers Wilmar Ghana wasted no time announcing their arrival in the competition, cruising to a commanding 4–0 victory over fellow debutants, the National Communications Authority (NCA). The emphatic performance immediately positioned Wilmar Ghana as one of the early teams to watch in the group.
Elsewhere, the Forestry Commission produced a confident display to secure a 3–0 win against Ghana Airports Company Limited, asserting control from the early stages of the encounter.
Consistency also defined the performance of Union Ghana, who continued from where they left off last season with a convincing 3–0 triumph over newcomers Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST). Known for their defensive discipline, Union Ghana once again demonstrated organisation and efficiency at both ends of the pitch.
Last season, the side conceded just a single goal throughout the campaign before narrowly losing in the final to eventual champions Ghana Civil Aviation Authority.
Their attacking strength was equally evident as last season’s top scorer Emmanuel Arthur found the net twice to underline his importance to the team’s title ambitions.
In a tightly contested fixture, the National Petroleum Authority edged Lebanese Sports Ghana 1–0 in a closely fought encounter, while Zenith Bank Ghana secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Telecel Ghana to round off an action-packed opening round of fixtures.
A blend of experienced contenders and ambitious newcomers is already making a strong impression, setting the stage for a fiercely competitive Group B as teams look to assert dominance early in the season.
