Wilmar FC capped off a remarkable debut campaign by defeating Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club (GAFOSC) 1-0 to lift the Season Two University of Ghana Corporate League trophy.
The grand finale was played on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the University of Ghana Stadium.
In a tightly contested final, both sides battled for control from the opening whistle. Ghana Armed Forces enjoyed spells of possession and looked threatening going forward but struggled to turn their dominance into goals.
Wilmar, on the other hand, remained disciplined and patient, waiting for their opportunity to strike.
The first half ended goalless, with neither side able to find the breakthrough despite several promising moments. However, the momentum shifted after the restart as Wilmar began to assert themselves, showing greater attacking intent and stretching the Armed Forces defence.
Their persistence paid off midway through the second half when they found the decisive goal of the contest. It proved to be the defining moment of the final, rewarding a dominant spell that saw Wilmar take control of the game.
Ghana Armed Forces responded with urgency, pushing numbers forward in search of an equaliser. The pressure intensified in the closing stages, but Wilmar’s defence stood resolute, repelling every attack and preserving their slender advantage.
At the final whistle, celebrations erupted as Wilmar secured their maiden UG Corporate League title, completing an unforgettable first season in the competition.
Earlier, NPA claimed third place with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). After taking the lead, NPA were pegged back by a second-half penalty before their captain restored the advantage with a superb strike from outside the box. Despite seeing a penalty saved later in the match, NPA held on to secure the bronze medal, improving on last season’s fourth-place finish.
For Wilmar, it was the perfect ending to a dream debut season. For Ghana Armed Forces, it was another painful final hurdle as they were left to settle for the runners-up position once again.
