Defending champions Ghana Civil Aviation Authority send an early warning to rivals after a commanding 2–0 victory to open their title defence

Defending champions Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) made a confident start to their title defence as the University of Ghana Corporate Football League (UGCFL) returned with thrilling Group A action at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday, February 13, 2026.

GCAA secured a convincing 2–0 victory over Lancaster Accra to set the early pace in the group. Their early dominance paid off in the first half when Gideon Kamasah broke through Lancaster’s defence to slot home the opener.

Moments later, Kofi Aboagye calmly converted from the penalty spot after GCAA were awarded a spot-kick, doubling the lead and giving the champions a comfortable advantage heading into halftime.

Lancaster Accra pushed for a response after the break, but GCAA’s organised defence stood firm to seal all three points.

Elsewhere, Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club delivered the most emphatic performance of the night, overwhelming Stanbic Bank in a dominant display that immediately signalled their title ambitions.

After racing into an early two-goal lead, the introduction of top scorer Michael Amu at halftime transformed the contest.

He quickly announced his presence with a goal before calmly converting two penalties to complete a remarkable hat-trick performance.

Following the victory, Armed Forces have now set their sights on surpassing their record of 22 goals in a single season, needing 18 more goals with nine matches remaining.

In another closely contested encounter, Ghana Football Association (GFA) were held to a 1–1 draw by newcomers Goil PLC.

Goil broke the deadlock in the first half after an end-to-end start to the match, but GFA responded strongly after the break.

A well-worked free kick assisted by former Kotoko player Eric Donkor restored parity before assistant Black Stars coach John Paintsil was introduced as GFA pushed for a late winner. Despite sustained pressure, both sides ultimately shared the spoils.

Bui Power Authority also made a strong opening statement, producing a composed performance to defeat the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) 2–0. Goals in each half ensured a deserved victory as they secured maximum points on Matchday One.

For hosts University of Ghana, however, it proved to be a frustrating evening as they suffered a narrow 1–0 defeat to Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC). Despite dominating possession and creating several scoring opportunities, UG failed to find the breakthrough. GNPC capitalised on a swift counter-attack midway through the second half to snatch the decisive goal.

Earlier, fans were treated to a colourful curtain-raiser featuring a combined diaspora halls exhibition match.

Dr. Hilla Limann Hall and Alexander Kwapong Hall joined forces against Jean Nelson Hall and Elizabeth Sey Hall in a lively contest that set the tone for the evening’s action.

After a goalless but entertaining encounter, the Alexander Kwapong/Hilla Limann side broke the deadlock late before converting a stoppage-time penalty to secure a 2–0 victory.

Matchday One in Group A delivered goals, drama and early statements of intent as GCAA set the benchmark, Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club showcased attacking firepower, and several teams began their search for consistency in what promises to be a fiercely competitive campaign.
