Radio and TV personality Kafui Dey has expressed profound sadness at the passing of former station manager of Radio Univers, Dr. Abubakari Sidick Ahmed (Alhaji), describing him as a gentle, intelligent, and inspiring leader whose legacy will be deeply missed in Ghana’s media and academic communities.

Speaking on Campus Exclusive on Radio Univers, Kafui Dey highlighted Alhaji’s unique leadership style.

“This man had a very soft voice. He was sharp, highly intelligent, and a master of languages,” Kafui Dey said. “He never raised his voice, shouted, or threw tantrums. He led with quiet strength and gentle authority. Leaders don’t need to yell to make an impact, and Alhaji was the perfect example of that.”

Reflecting on Alhaji’s enduring impact, the Radio Univers product said: “His work speaks for itself. Anybody who comes to Radio Univers should know the story of the people who made things happen, so they have a sense of pride in where they work. Alhaji was foundational to the station, and his legacy will guide future generations.”

To Alhaji’s family and loved ones, Kafui Dey offered his deepest condolences: “May Allah have mercy on his soul. He was a warm, quiet, and gentle soul, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”

Dey urged that Alhaji’s story be documented and remembered, noting that honouring leaders who laid the groundwork for success is crucial for inspiring those who follow. He described Alhaji’s approach as “quiet leadership,” a model of excellence, humility, and integrity that leaves a lasting impression.

Alhaji passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at about 10:15 a.m. at the University of Ghana Medical Centre, after a brief illness.
