The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, has described the Wear UG Day celebration as a movement that affirms the culture and values of the University of Ghana as an institution.
She made these remarks at the annual Wear UG Day ceremony held at the Cedi Conference Centre on October 15, 2025.
Addressing the attendees, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised that the celebration promotes unity while highlighting the university’s rich heritage and core values.
“When we wear UG, it goes beyond wearing identical fabrics; we wear the history, values, and aspirations of our dear university. Over the last two years, the impact of this initiative has been remarkable. In 2023, the major edition of Wear UG Day, organised as part of the 75th anniversary celebrations, generated excitement across campus and beyond. Both editions reminded us that Wear UG is not just an event — it’s a movement that unites us as one community with shared aspirations and values,” she said.
The event brought together Pro Vice-Chancellors, Deans, Heads of Department, staff, students, and alumni in a celebration of institutional pride and identity.
The atmosphere was colourful as participants showcased diverse designs of the Wear UG cloth, creatively styled in shades of navy and light blue — reflecting the core values and beauty of the University of Ghana.
