Management of the University of Ghana has initiated internal procedures following a widely circulated video showing a confrontation between two senior members of the institution during a televised media engagement.
The incident occurred on TV3’s current affairs programme, The Keypoints, aired on Saturday, November 15, 2025. The exchange, which featured Professor Ransford Gyampo and Dr. George Domfeh, began as a panel discussion but escalated into a personal and heated altercation.
In an official statement issued on Friday, November 21, 2025, the University noted that the nature of the confrontation violated the standards expected of senior academic staff. Citing the University of Ghana Statutes (2024) and the Code of Conduct for Academic Senior Members (2011), Management confirmed that internal processes had been activated to review the conduct of both individuals involved.
“Management of the University of Ghana has noted a widely circulated video which captured Professor Ransford Gyampo and Dr. George Domfeh, both Senior Members of the University, in a confrontation during a media engagement on The Key Points, a current affairs programme on TV3, on Saturday, 15th November 2025. The video shows a panel discussion that degenerated into a personal and heated exchange between the two,” the statement said.
“Management, in accordance with the University of Ghana Statutes (2024) and the Code of Conduct for Academic Senior Members (2011), has triggered internal processes to review the conduct of the two senior members and take the necessary disciplinary actions,” it added.
The University emphasised its commitment to professionalism, integrity, and decorum, urging all faculty and staff to uphold these values both on and off campus.
“The University demands high standards of professionalism, integrity, and decorum from all faculty and staff and expects all members of the community to uphold these values in both public and private engagements,” the statement further noted.
Management reiterated its dedication to safeguarding the institution’s reputation and preserving public confidence.
“Management remains committed to safeguarding the dignity of the University and preserving public confidence in the institution,” the statement concluded.
