Former Kotoko Express columnist, Kojo Addae-Mensah, has dismissed suggestions that Asante Kotoko has the easiest run of fixtures in the opening weeks of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

His comments follow the official release of the league’s full fixture list by the Ghana Football Association on Monday, August 4, which has sparked widespread debate among fans and pundits.

Asante Kotoko will begin their campaign with matches against Berekum Chelsea, Bibiani Gold Stars, Basake Holy Stars, Heart of Lions, and arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.

Speaking on Sports Night on Radio Univers, Addae-Mensah emphasized that serious clubs must be prepared to face any opponent, regardless of timing or perceived difficulty.

“I’m Kotoko through and through and through, but I’m a very objective Kotoko fan. I disagree with those who are saying that, oh, this thing is being cooked.

“The Confederation Cup also starts somewhere so it makes our first few fixtures very, very tough. But I disagree with anybody who is saying that it’s unfair to Kotoko, it’s being cool or whatever it is.

“ I totally disagree because if you want to win the league, you play what is in front of you. And you have to beat what is in front of you, irrespective of the time,” he told Univers Sports.

He also voiced his belief in the current squad under Coach Karim Zito, expressing optimism that they will ultimately win the Ghana Premier League.

“So let’s meet them. If we are ready, let’s beat them. And let’s prove to Ghanaians and the world that we are ready to pick the Ghana Premier League.

“And I think our current coach, Karim, can do what he has to do. I am predicting that we will win the league this season. Kotoko will win the League this season,” he concluded.
