In a groundbreaking academic achievement for the University of Ghana, Dr. Charisa Peace Ngozi Ogbogbo has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics.
This promotion, approved by the University Council on 29th May 2025, is not only a recognition of her scholarly contributions and dedication to the field but also marks a historic moment as Dr. Ogbogbo becomes the first woman to rise to professorship in the Mathematical Sciences since the University’s inception.
Dr. Ogbogbo currently serves as the Head of the Department of Mathematics, where she has been instrumental in advancing the department’s academic reputation and mentoring the next generation of mathematicians.

Her promotion is effective 1st April 2024, alongside other academic advancements announced in the Registrar’s official memorandum.
