The Registrar of the University of Ghana’s College of Education, Joseph Oduro Nkansah, has encouraged newly admitted students to fully embrace their chosen field of study, highlighting the vast career opportunities that a degree in education offers.

Speaking at the matriculation ceremony over the weekend, Mr. Nkansah emphasized that education graduates are equipped with skills highly sought after by employers across various sectors.

“Graduates from the College of Education have a distinct advantage. After graduation, they have the opportunity to sit for the licensure exams to become professional teachers, but it doesn’t end there. With the qualifications they acquire, they can work in banks, the civil service, administrative roles, and much more.”

Mr. Nkansah stressed that this versatility gives education graduates a competitive edge in the job market, especially considering the constant demand for qualified teachers.

“A degree in education is a double-edged sword. One edge is teaching—and that’s a guaranteed career path. They should be very proud of that”

He also revealed that the College of Education is actively working to attract more students and aims to become the largest college within the university, surpassing even the College of Humanities in enrollment numbers.

The registrar’s remarks aimed to inspire confidence among new students and highlight the broad horizons that an education degree can open.
