The outgoing President of the 66th University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (SRC), Frank Tsikata, has successfully secured approval from university management to introduce scrolls and medals for all graduating students.

This announcement was made during his second State of SRC Address on Friday, September 20, 2024, at the University of Ghana Medical Centre conference room. Tsikata emphasized that this initiative aims to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of students as they complete their academic journeys.

“We’ve gained approval from the University Management to present medals and scrolls to all graduates in recognition of their efforts and achievements,” Tsikata remarked.

Inspired by traditions observed at Western universities where graduates receive scrolls, Tsikata believes the University of Ghana should embrace a similar practice.

“As seen in many Western universities, graduates walk with scrolls in hand. This will enrich our graduation ceremony, making it more memorable and prestigious.”

This new practice will soon become a hallmark of graduation ceremonies at the University of Ghana, recognizing the efforts of every student, regardless of their academic performance.

The initiative represents one of the key accomplishments of Tsikata’s administration as he prepares to conclude his term as SRC President.
