English Premier League side Crystal Palace Football Club has announced nominees for Goal of the Season Awards as the current English Premier League season draws to an end.
Two Ghanaian players, Jordan Ayew and Jeffery Schulpp, have showcased phenomenal performances throughout the season for the Eagles and have bagged nominations for the Goal of the Season Award.
Jordan Ayew secured a spot among the Goal of the Season contenders with his impressive strikes against Tottenham Hotspur and Everton this season. Likewise, Jeffrey Schlupp’s powerful strike against Fulham has also put him in the running for the award.
Jordan, previously awarded Crystal Palace Player of the Month for August, has netted 4 goals and contributed 7 assists this term, securing a spot in the award nomination alongside his Ghanaian compatriot Schulpp, who has 2 goals and 2 assists this season.
Additional nominees in the same award category feature Michael Olise, Eberechie Eze, Jesse Derry, Jefferson Lerma, Joachim Andersen, Danny Imray, Shauna Guyyat, Araya Dennis, and Shanade Hopcroft. These nominees do not only cover Crystal Palace’s first team but cut across various teams within the club, spanning across the men’s, women’s, U-18, and U-21 teams.
The prestigious ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Fairfield Hall in Croydon.
Crystal Palace currently occupies the 14th position on the English Premier League table, having accumulated 41 points from 35 games played.
