The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Dreams fc’s tactician, Abdul Karim Zito as the Head Coach of the newly established national U-19 male team as part of their plans in bolstering the nation’s youth football infrastructure.

This decision by the Football Association aligns with the their vision of establishing a comprehensive developmental transition of Ghanaian players from grassroots to elite levels.

Karin Zito will be assisted by former Asante Kotoko striker Eric Bekoe, whose wealth of experience and football knowledge will complement Zito’s efforts in managing affairs of the youth team.

Bekoe played for Liberty Professionals, Hearts of Lions, Berekum Chelsea and Kumasi Asante Kotoko. But Bekoe did leave his mark on Ghana football with Asante Kotoko, where he scored 17 goals in 23 league outings. Undoubtedly, Bekoe’s eye for goal is essential in grooming young sharp shooters who are able to don the national colors and take Ghana football by storm.

Additionally, Zito has also worked with a lot of renowned clubs such as Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, and Dreams FC, as well as King Faisal and Kwaebibirem FC.

Having previously led Ghana to victory in the U-20 WAFU Championship in 2020 and the U-20 AFCON title in 2021, Zito’s achievements clearly show his prowess in nurturing and grooming young footballers in the country.

This appointment marks a natural progression in his coaching journey, with Zito previously serving as the Head Coach of the national U-15 and U-17 teams.
