In the world of magic, few stories are as intriguing as that of Emmanuel Obeng, popularly known as ManuelTheMagician. A rising force in Ghana’s entertainment scene, Manuel has been performing professionally for over two years, wowing audiences with mind-bending illusions. But what truly makes his story remarkable is the bold decision that changed the course of his life forever.
During an exclusive interview on Campex Showbiz on January 31, 2025, Manuel shared the extraordinary path that led him to magic. He revealed that he holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). However, instead of pursuing a conventional medical career, he followed his true passion—magic.
“I’m actually a doctor, a Doctor of Pharmacy,” he confessed. “But I’ve ditched it somewhere. I know my friends will beat me for saying this, but I’m focusing on magic now. This is my art, and this is what I love to do.”
While many of his peers are prescribing medications and treating patients, Manuel has chosen a different kind of healing—one that brings wonder and excitement to people’s lives. Today, he is the resident magician at The Shields Lounge, located off Spintex Road, where he mesmerizes audiences every Thursday night with jaw-dropping illusions.
“Shields Lounge is my home,” he declared. “Every Thursday, I’m live there, doing my stuff.”
His residency at Shields Lounge has solidified his place as one of Ghana’s most promising magicians, attracting crowds eager to witness his spellbinding performances. But for Manuel, magic is not just about entertainment—it’s an art form that blends skill, psychology, and unseen forces.
“Sometimes it’s pure art; other times, I have to use certain forces,” he revealed. “It’s not normal to make something float in the air or hold my ring and let it levitate.”
Manuel’s fascination with the supernatural dates back to his school days when he astounded classmates by predicting exam questions with eerie accuracy.
“There were one or two times I told my friends about the exam questions, and they actually came true,” he recalled with a laugh. “They were like, ‘How did you know?’”
These early experiences hinted at his extraordinary knack for mind reading and prediction, skills that now define his unique brand of magic.
His daring transition from medicine to magic is a testament to his courage and dedication to his craft. By stepping away from societal expectations, he has carved out a unique space in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
As he continues to captivate audiences at The Shields Lounge and beyond, ManuelTheMagician is redefining what it means to be a magician. Whether making objects levitate, reading minds, or bending reality itself, one thing is clear—his journey is just beginning, and the world has only scratched the surface of his extraordinary abilities.
