The 2025 Mobex Africa ICT Conference and Expo has opened in Accra, running from October 21st to 23rd, 2025 at the Kempinski Hotel.

Speaking at the 10th anniversary edition of the event, Minister of Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced that the Mahama-led government is taking steps to empower local fintech companies to develop homegrown payment and technology solutions to strengthen Ghana’s digital ecosystem.

“We must, as Africans, move away from Western-dominated technological systems,” Ablakwa said. “Sovereignty in today’s competitive world goes beyond physical borders into the digital realm.”

The Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu, highlighted the Bank’s efforts to build a resilient digital economy through regulation and innovation.

“The emergence of digital currencies has led the Bank to develop a strong fintech regulatory framework and the e-Cedi,” she noted. “These measures will ensure seamless and secure cross-border transactions.”

Mobex Africa CEO George Spencer Quaye reflected on the platform’s growth over the past decade, saying the initiative has become “a catalyst for African innovation and a force influencing digital policy and transformation across the continent.”

This year’s conference, themed “Resetting Africa’s Digital Identity and Sovereignty,” drew experts, policymakers, and innovators from across the continent for keynote sessions, panel discussions, and exhibitions showcasing cutting-edge digital solutions.
