Ranking member on Parliament’s Finance Committee and Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central constituency, Hon. Isaac Adongo has expressed his disappointment of the 2024 mid-year budget which he believed offered no assurance to Ghanaians.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on discussions of the Mid Year Budget Review, Hon. Isaac Adongo explained that he expected some taxes to be abolished to provide relief and improvement in the lives of Ghanaians, but this did not happen.
“When the Minister for Finance appeared before us to deliver the statement regarding the mid-year review, he did not provide any hope to the people of Ghana. Mr. Speaker, there was not even a single measure that could help alleviate the suffering of the people of Ghana.”
“By the time the Minister left, the reality remained that they mismanaged this economy to register a depreciation in the cedi of about 54 percent in 2022.”
